Writing for the women's magazines is fun and rewarding, but don't assume it's
easy! The competition is exceptionally fierce, so if you want to be successful, **study
their guidelines thoroughly, read samples of the magazine you're targetting, write what they want (not what
you think they should publish!) and then submit, submit, submit.
** There're a number of brilliant writing websites giving
out guidelines (mine included until recently) but I feel it's always best to obtain the current guidelines direct from
the editors as their requirements change so frequently.
For comprehensive listings of magazine markets as well as agents, get hold of a copy
of these books. But do remember that magazines go out of print/change their guidelines between editions so they may be out
of date before they're even published. They look good on your bookshelf though!
